Inspired by life on the water

Inspired by their own uncomfortable nights at sea, round-the-world sailors Paul and Angela Hallatt founded Ship Shape Bedding in 2006. What began with a single product – shaped duvets designed to fit awkward boat berths – quickly expanded into a full range of custom bedding, mattresses, toppers, saloon upholstery, and deck cushions, all made to suit the unique spaces on board.

In 2020, Paul and Angela retired to return to sailing, and long-time commercial manager Matt Nudd took over as owner and managing director of Ship Shape World Ltd. With fresh drive and ambition, Matt grew the business further, opening the UK’s largest marine upholstery showroom in 2021 and continuing the company’s mission to bring home comfort to life at sea.

Inspired by life on the water

As the business evolved, so did Matt’s role as both a leader and a family man. While raising a busy family of five, Matt has continued to grow Ship Shape with the same energy and dedication that first drove its success. He has built a close-knit team around him – a team that feels more like family than colleagues – all sharing the same passion for delivering comfort, quality, and craftsmanship for life at sea.

In 2021, we opened the UK’s largest Marine Upholstery showroom to showcase our wide range of products, and allow customers the chance to try out all of the different options. Located in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, with miles of amazing waterways to explore nearby. Why not plan a weekend sailing the broads, and pop in to visit us whilst you’re in the area!
